1. Before connecting your modem to your PC please power off your PC.
2. Connect your modem to your PC's COM1 (if mouse is connected on PS2 port) or COM2 (if mouse is connected to COM1)
3. Connect telephone line in line socket of modem & phone in phone socket of modem.
4. Turn on your modem and PC.
5. Select "modem" in control panel.
6. Click "add" then click "next" then your computer will check for your modem. Here your computer must detect your modem. If not some thing is wrong with serial port/cable/modem. Follow up on screen instructions to complete modem installation.
7. Important setting for modem installation are :- General Properties

Keep other settings to default.
To check this settings your modem in "modem" in control panel & click "properties"

How to get into Dial-up Networking?

Please follow the step by step Procedure as below to set up your  computer for Acessing Internet through Dial Up Networking:

Double click the My Computer icon on the desktop

Double click the Dial-Up Networking icon

Double click the Make New Connection icon

Type KAPPA for the Name of the Computer you are dialing

Click Next

If above dialogue box ( Make New Connection ) is not showing your modem at "Select a modem" list, than it means your modem is not installed. So first go through the modem installation procedure explained at  How to Install Modem?

Enter 744 in the box for area code

Under Telephone Number type 172360

Click Next

Click Finish

 

Now in Dial Up Networking Window Highlight the KAPPA  icon, and click the RIGHT mouse button once to display a menu, and select Properties

Under the Phone Number section, make sure that the Use Country Code and Area Code option is NOT checked

Select the Server Types tab

The Type of Dial-up Server should be set to PPP: Internet,Windows NT Server, Windows 98

Under Advanced Options make sure that Enable software compression & Require encrypted password is checked.

Under Allowed Network Protocols make sure that ONLY TCP/IP is checked, remove the checks   from NetBEUI and IPX/SPX

 Click OK

To check your Dial Up Networking configuration:

• Double click My Computer

• Double click Dial Up Networking

• Right click on your KAPPA icon

• Select Properties

• Ensure all details are as those described above.

Creating an KAPPA icon on the Desktop

Once all the settings are complete, the task of dialing into KAPPA  can be performed by creating an KAPPA  icon on your Desktop.

Double click the My Computer Icon

Double click the Dial-Up Networking icon

Highlight the KAPPA icon, and click the RIGHT mouse button once to display a menu

Select Create Shortcut, and the following message will appear

"Windows cannot create a shortcut here. Do you want the shortcut to be  placed on the desktop instead?"

Click Yes to this prompt

Simply double click the icon on your desktop to launch the dialer, and click Connect to get conneced with KAPPA.

You will find folowing window

Now you will be prompted to enter your user name and password to get the permission to access internet through KAPPA. please fill up the same in require field and  after that you will find  the world on your desk.

How to Connect Internet

Following Steps should be followed

1. Double click on connection icon, you created above. A window will appear Enter your username  & Enter you password then click "connect". You must get a fax tone here, if not, please dial again.
2. Now server will verify your name & password, & you will connect to the Internet.
3. Now you can enjoy the Internet world.

Go Home Page of this site and Click   "Change Password".

Go Home Page of this site and Click   "Check Usage Hours".

1. Open Microsoft outlook express.
2. Click "tools"
3. Click "Accounts" (service in case of MS outlook)
4. Click "Mail"
5. Click "Add"
6. Click "Mail"
7. Type your name and click next
8. Type your email address (For example :- demo@kappa.net.in)
9. Type "kipl2.kappa.net.in" for incoming mail server and outgoing mail server IP address.
10. Click "next".
11. Next you will be asked for "log on using pop account name" type your name for ex: demo not demo@kappa.net.in.
12. Do not give your password here.
13. Click "next".
14. Next you will be asked for friendly name, type any name you want.
15. Click "next".
16. Choose "connect using my phone line" in choose connection type.
17. Click "next" & "next" again until you get finish.
